Example: Andres Vera Martinez

What ran with the Wiffle Ball article! It's more of a "Field of Dreams" feel.

Andres Vera Martinez is a recent SVA grad. I first saw his work at the end of 3rd year and was ASTOUNDED by the leaps and bounds he had made by graduation. As you guys enter your last year, really crank out the work, start thinking about where you'd like to end up (editorial? books? other?), and keep your end goals in mind while shaping your portfolio.

Final Wiffle Ball Illustration

This is my final illustration, I added the houses in the back as a last minute resolution because the background seemed empty and uninteresting without it and i think it helps to show that they have built a field in a suburban neighborhood. I used limited color, green tones, and i like the way it turned out. The perspective on the field is way of, I know, or maybe the two girls feet in the back just look really awkward, or both. The kids are supposed to have tough looking expressions on their faces, like the Sandlot picture, to show that they are not backing down and they are here to stay. 

Wiffle Ball Sketch

These are my real quick sketches for the wiffle ball composition drawing. I was just trying to figure out how the field would shape out with the kids standing in front. What I had in mind is something like Sandlot, like the image above. I dont think im adding the text and will probably go with the composition in the top sketch.
